I don't think IPv6 affects this. I think shelfari being taken down is causing this problem because now I'm getting it too. I probably have the wrong error code being put somewhere. I'm looking into it. Sorry for the long response time lately. :/

I've figured out the problem but as long as the plugin uses Shelfari, it will be useless. I will put out a new version as soon as we get it updated to use something else.

I'm not seeing this on OS X, so either it is linux specific or isn't OS specific at all..

Do you see it with other books? If it is specific to one book or just a few books, then it could be worth sending us both the books from your Calibre library (right click, Open Containing Folder, send us everything in there) plus whatever is on your kindle (look in X:\documents\ for the book, again send the entire folder). Stick is somewhere online.

We've released version 2.2.1. We've added a bunch of bug fixes and a new feature. In preferences, there's now an option called "Auto associate split aliases". When it's enabled, it will split aliases retrieved from Goodreads up. For example, if a character on goodreads named "Vin" has a Goodreads alias of "Valette Renoux", this option will add "Valette" and "Renoux" as aliases. You may not want this in cases such as "Timothy Cratchit" who has a Goodreads alias of "Tiny Tim". Having this feature on would add "Tiny", and "Tim" as aliases which is not valid.

Did you happen to try again after this happen? If so, did it work? For some reason, it seems to not work sometimes and then it'll work if you retry. I'll look into this to the reasons this could happen.

it worked fine but many books do not have good xray these days

Hm, yeah I think it might just be an intermittent issue. Those are the hardest to catch/fix. And yeah, unfortunately, there's nothing we can do about x-rays not being good. We just pick up the data from Goodreads and their data is very sparse right now.

Deleting .json file and .sdr folder
Although inconsistent results, I found that deleting the .json and .sdr folder and recreating from scratch can sometimes generate the .asc/x-ray file.

I also think that the one particular book I was trying to generate the file with is slightly broken because when I go to look at "Specific Book Preferences", it's never able to automatically pick up the book like the rest of my books in Calibre. For this book, I have to Search for ASIN, Search for GoodReadsURL and then Push on Update Aliases from URL buttons. Only after those 3 buttons, does it populate with the correct information. After I do this, the X-RAY file does get created, but it seems broken when trying to be used on Kindle.


So I guess what I am trying to ask here is:

1. Can there be any X-RAY Correction done to the one that doesn't work well?

2. Is there a good indication of when an x-ray file will not work right?

I'm following this guideline at this time: If it doesn't have the book information automatically in the "Specific Book Preferences", I think it's safe to say the X-RAY will not work on Kindle. This is with my experience though.

Hm, I can't seem to get this to happen to me. It might be a permissions issue. Can you check to make sure you have write access to the folder where the book is stored?
