Mit dem aufgehellten Hintergrund kämen mir Titel und Statuenzeichnung nicht mehr genug zur Geltung. Ich finde den harten Kontrast passender (und dass ich nicht immer Wert drauf lege, dass alles gut zu erkennen ist, ist vielleicht schon aufgefallen).

Hi Doitsu, genau das wäre mein Grund mich erst gar nicht an etwas mit Fraktur zu versuchen. Wenn, dann sollte man die damaligen Satzregeln alle beherrschen. Andernfalls wird das Ergebnis peinlich.

Ja ja, Otto Normal wird es nicht sehen. Der denk das einfach anderen Font drüber bügeln reichen würde. Aber woher soll er es auch besser wissen? Damals, als man Sütterlin & Co lernte, war zumindest ein Grundwissen da. Auch dort gibt es verschiedene s und Ligaturen. (In der 4. Klasse wurden wir ein wenig mit Sütterlin geplagt. Lief unter "Schönschreiben".) Und vor allem, vor der Verbreitung des Computers hat niemand Buchdruck betrieben, der keine Drucker-/Setzerlehre gemacht hatte. Gerade an letzterem krankt es gerne. Computer und Programm haben genügt, eine solide Ausbildung überflüssig.

Natürlich bin ich nicht vom Fach. Aber jemand im Chor, der gelernter Schriftsetzer ist, hat mich da ein Bisschen sensibel gemacht.

Die "merkwürdige Schrift" lesen zu sollen wird nicht versucht, sondern sofort abgelehnt. Aber wen wundert es? Die Haltung, den Film schaue ich mir an aber das Buch lese ich nicht weil zu anstrengend, ist ja auch weit verbreitet.

Man sollte nicht vergessen, das wir hier im Forum eine der kleinen Inseln der Literaturbegeisterten sind. (Sowohl eher wissenschaftlich interessierte als auch reine Unterhaltungsleser.) Wir haben einen anderen Blickwinkel als die Mehrheit.

Vergiss es, die Schwarte nehm' ich mit jedem Deckel ... (Wann isses denn fertich ?? )

Obwohl es mir wirklich schwer fällt, zu sagen, welche Variante mir besser gefällt. Vielleicht sollte man die Tönung ein wenig mehr nach grün verschieben

Na ja, eigentlich es der eklärte Wille des Führers, dann der Besatzer, dann vorauseilender Gehorsam der Geführten und Besatzten, dann die Sorge, in den Ruch der Deutschtümelei und noch schlimmerem zu kommen und schließlich der Widerwille der jungen Generation gegen etwas, was ihnen als irgendwie alt und unzeitgemäß verkauft wurde. Nach meiner Erfahrung legen sich die Schwierigkeiten mit der Fraktur spätestens nach der dritten Seite... wenn der Text gut ist.

Überraschend, wie stark das Echo auf die Fraktur-Thematik hier ist.
Also noch einen Klacks Senf an den Rand:
Gegen fachkundig erstellte bibliophile eBooks mit Fraktur ist überhaupt nichts einzuwenden; als Standard-Schrift halte ich Fraktur in eBooks jedoch für ungeeignet.
Im Gegensatz zur Sütterlin-Schreibschrift ist tatsächlich die Fraktur kein echtes Hemmnis; man muss sie ja zudem nicht schreiben, sondern nur lesen können. Die Übereinstimmungen bzw. Affinitäten mit / zu der Antiqua sind hinreichend groß, dass der vernunftbegabte Leser nicht scheitern sollte.
Ein großes Plus sind die Ausdruckstärke dieser Schrift und die wundervollen Ligaturen, die von Antiqua-Schriften nur unzureichend nachgeahmt werden können.
Aber es hilft alles nichts: Die Fraktur, die ich wirklich mag, wirkt heute neben der Antiqua immer alt, veraltet, rückwärtsgewandt, überholt, verschroben, antiquiert, plüschig - irgendwie wie ein Relikt des alten Zweiten Reiches, das durch den Ersten Weltkrieg nicht zu beseitigen war.
Die Abschaffung dieser Schrift als Obligatorik wäre kulturpolitisch eigentlich die Aufgabe der demokratischen Weimarer Republik gewesen - ganz im Zeichen auch der "Neuen Sachlichkeit", aber dazu war man offenbar - wie auch in anderen Bezügen - zu feige. Es ist einmal mehr eines der tragikomischen Ereignisse deutscher Geschichte, dass diesen Schritt der Modernisierung der deutsche Faschismus unternahm.

Was ich natürlich nie behauptet habe, also diskutiert gerne weiter.

EDIT:
Da medard das Problem als ›gelöst‹ bezeichnet hat, ist es vermutlich überflüssig, weiter zu überlegen.
