Anyone have kernel images?
Hi everyone!
I've managed to brick my paperwhite 3 2015 Wi-Fi, and didn't even know that I could backup the kernel images before I started. ixtab.tk appears to be down, so does anyone have a working mirror or the files that I could get a copy of? Thanks in advance! |

Official updates should include everything you need, unless you've been very naughty and broke diags.

As far as I know I didn't break diags so does that mean I can just use KindleTool to extract everything from the official image?

Pretty much, yes. Diags usually contains device-sensitive content as serial etc. So other’s diags recovery image wouldn’t help you so much (depending on your recovery needs)

@Eveonix: Yup. Depending on how broken it is, it's either as simple as force-feeding it an official update, or installing it manually via diags.
@mergen3107: Nope, diags certainly doesn't contain anything of the sort. It's just a minimal, well, diagnostics oriented set of rootfs + kernel. Anything user-specific, private or otherwise, is hosted on varlocal. |
