I had no idea that Daniel DeFoe wrote any short fiction; but he did and here's a bit of it. Mostly better known names, but J M Walsh is now little known; he was an Australian writer of adventure stories who soon went of to London for the bigger and better opportunities on offer, and became a prolific adventure novelist under such pen-names as Stephen Maddock, and Haverstock Hill, and his own name; over 60 novels! Of course names like Peter Cheyney, Sinclair Lewis etc need no introduction. All stories in the Life + 70 years public domain.

The Black Cat / Warwick Deeping
The Diamond Scarab / Peter Cheyney
Beyond the Last League / Beatrice Grimshaw
 Caged / Ethel Lina White
 Grey Brothers / Andrew Caldecott
The God Shoo Shan / Dy Edwardson
 The Bath-Chair / E. F. Benson
The Overcrowded Iceberg / Morley Roberts
The Double Cross / Mark Hellinger
A True Relation of the Apparition of Mrs Veal / Daniel Defoe
Rain to Order / Ernest George Henham
 The House of Terror / A. E. W. Mason
The Mark of Honor / Arthur Gask
Young Man Axelbrod / Sinclair Lewis
The Song of Mehitabel / Don Marquis
Maytime in Marlow / Booth Tarkington
The Queen's Twin / Sarah Orne Jewett
 Major Wilbraham / Hugh Walpole
 Barratry / J. M. Walsh
The Woman of Stone / Robert Barr
