Ultor de Lacy by M. R. James?
First of all, thanks for your always inspiring collections!
In this one, no. 187, you come up with a story allegedly by M. R. James, Ultor De Lacy. It isn't. When the story was published in Dublin University Magazine in 1861, James wasn't even born – the real author is Sheridan Le Fanu. M. R. James was a great admirer of Le Fanu, and unearthed this and a dozen or so other stories published anonymously by that author, in the collection known as "Madam Crowl's Ghost". Regards, Kim |

Many thanks! It's embarrassing, as I actually had a copy of Madam Crowl's Ghost in my Calibre Library on my PC, which I'd forgotten about.
I've corrected 187, and also done the active TOC links, which I forgot, and will upload V2. |
