• Short Stories [same author] was nominated by din155, kyteflyer, and Hamlet53. If all five people are willing, I'll combine those into one category called Short Stories. din155 - willing WT Sharpe - willing HomeInMyShoes - willing kyteflyer - Hamlet53 - Last edited by WT Sharpe; 08-05-2015 at 05:56 PM. |

Also for bookkeeping, kyteflyer seconded Fan Fiction. The second is already noted but no name is listed for the second. |

Nice catch. Now fixed. I don't know how that happened, but as the thread grows and categories get combined, things get confusing. |

If Contemporary and Modern Fiction are basically the same, I'll third Contemporary.

The Hunger Games is in no way the same or similar to The cat in the Hat. |

Please give us some examples of classics that would not fit into any other category that might stand a chance of winning.

However The Hunger Games (usually considered YA) is comparable to the Harry Potter series (considered both Childrens and YA)

All that matters are the categories that actually make it and an example is easy since the last Classics winner, Cannery Row, wouldn't fit any other category this year.

I have no more votes left, but we have four more categories to fill and I sense we're are running out of ideas, so here are a few for consideration:
• Animals • Disaster fiction • Dystopian fiction • Existentialist fiction • Feminist Fiction (fiction with a strong female protagonist) • Film • Folklore/Legend • Gay/Lesbian (fiction with a homosexual/bisexual/transgendered protagonist) • History • Music • Mythology • Philosophy • Poetry • Stage • Tragedy • War • Western Last edited by WT Sharpe; 08-05-2015 at 11:06 PM. History is already nominated but here are some other options from last year's shindig:
The categories I am most interested in are already nominated though, so I don't really want to dilute the field by making more nominations of my own. |
