I now use KOReader exclusively on my Paperwhite so I no longer have to put up with having my ebooks deleted when connecting to WiFi. I wasn't trying to pull a fast one on Amazon by using Calibre. Most of my books were Amazon purchased AZW3 files. Downloaded and transferred via USB as permitted by Amazon. I used Calibre simply to make up for the deficiencies in Kindle firmware. To rectify the embarrassingly limited margin and line-height options built into the device. Now, very happy using KOReader on my Paperwhite and having options with my Kobo.

I disagree that the workaround isn't feasible but I can see how many would find it completely unacceptable. |

If I "Download & Transfer via USB", then I have to pick a particular Kindle. The web database then shows that book as being "on" that Kindle, even though it isn't yet. The problem is that people have reported that books purchased from Amazon that have been copied via USB to their Kindle have been deleted when WiFi gets turned back on after it was off for a long time. If Amazon was just syncing up the Kindle contents to their server database, this would not happen. |

Unfortunately KFX doesn't work with the FONT_RAMP hack, which was essential for me when I used Kindles. I couldn't find a suitable font size with default sizes, but then I'm very fussy about such things.

Yeah, it's very strange why those books are deleted. What's the logic in this? |

I recall no reports of undiddled, side-loaded Amazon purchases being deleted with the wifi-turned-on-after-being-off-for-a-long-time bug.

If I sideload a PD book to an Amazon device, you are claiming that Amazon now owns that content. Exactly what legal doctrine are you basing that claim on?
Please let me know what you have been smoking so I can order a few hundred grams for my next party. Last edited by DNSB; 10-14-2024 at 08:59 PM. |

Looks like a solid basis for a Kindlebook metadata editor plugin that could run on multiple books if someone was so inclined. Last edited by DiapDealer; 10-14-2024 at 09:54 PM. |

I only remove DRM in the first place because Amazon's transcriptions are frequently terrible. For example, they changed every every "torc" into "tore" in a book literally called "The Golden Torc". Another turned every "cl" into a "d". If they had a human being checking the output, I wouldn't need to.
