Change To Internal Name via Command Line

I've downloaded some of the Project Gutenberg ebooks (in epub format). As you might know, the filenames of those downloads are simply a series of numbers, and not the real internal title of the work.

For instance: 12345.epub
Instead of: Declaration of Independence.epub

If we import the document into Calibre, the internal title is automatically applied, resulting in a properly titled file. This is a wonderful function performed by Calibre.

I'm wondering if the same can be done via command line. Is there a way to bring out the "real title" by simply issuing some command line order?

Any help greatly appreciated.

The command --- ebook-meta 12345.epub --- does allow one to SEE the meta-tags for a file (within a command-line window).

However, my request is a command-line order "resulting in a properly titled file."

As given in the opening example, the resulting file would be:

Declaration of Independence.epub

Any additional help greatly appreciated.

Great!

Then, a follow-up question. Is there some practical upper limit as to the size of the Calibre database?

In other words, can Calibre handle:

1000 ebooks?
10,000 ebooks?
100,000 ebooks?
1,000.000 ebooks?

Thank you very much!

I know of users using calibre with 50,000 book libraries.
