Am I the only one who wants to just READ on my Kindle Scribe?
I wanted a nice and somewhat 'light' ebook reader with a large screen. I got it.
I don't want to doodle, take notes, draw strange alien creatures, highlight, take notes, draw squares, draw circles, take notes, annotate, list, world-build, draw triangles, take notes, scribble all over the screen making thick and thin lines, etc., etc. If the answer to my Subject header is 'Yes', then I'll continue to read as I absently pop a pimple, knowing I'm the only owner who wishes to read an ebook. THERE! I feel better! ![]() ![]() |

I also only read on my ereaders. But the Scribe would be far too large for me, 8'' is my upper limit.

I wish Kobo would make an Elipsa in 300DPI. I would get one for my mother, although with her eyesight, 300DPI probably doesn't matter. |

With my eyesight I wish I could effort the Scripe. I am finding though that rhe new PaperWhite SE screen is very readable. And a lot more portable.

I do have a 12.9" iPad Pro with the Magic Keyboard. BookFusion makes two columns so the lines are not too long.

You're not the only one - I personally have no desire to annotate or write in a book - I just read them. I read quickly & find that the smaller screens result in paging too quickly. The Scribe has sufficient text per page to allow me to read at the pace I'd like and having more text available at a time means I can take more in at a glance.

Well, in my case, after years of using all generations of Kindle, the Scribe has come to solve precisely the problem of writing. Of course, I am a teacher and it is excellent for doing research and taking notes on books for presentations and for class. I take care of it as if it were my own child, because I am dying to have to go back to a "read-only" Kindle and the price is not exactly cheap.

While I love to read on my scribe, I also have side-loaded about 800 free PDF crossword puzzles I got on-line, and LOVE doing them on the scribe. Nice for when we're casual-watching tv and I want to keep my hands and mind busy.
There are other word games you can buy from Amazon to do on the scribe as well. |

I also really enjoy reading on my Scribe which surprised me because I never had an interest in the Kindle DX- I got old I guess. I do send pdfs of the nyt crossword and scribble some lists but the annotation features aren’t as useful because they live on the device for the most part. Does anyone else use a pillow thing like @John F mentioned upthread? Interested to hear how you all use your Scribe

My Scribe is for note taking in church, using study books for Bible study etc. I've made Folders for my sewing notes, inventory lists for my sewing supplies, that kind of thing. I like hand written notes for such things, and the Scribe works well for them.
I've even used it to hand write a letter, which I sent to my email so I could print it out. I have apps on my iPad that I can use for handwritten notes, but much prefer the feel of the Scribe since it mimics paper well. I've used it for sewing pattern directions, so I can make notes directly on them, but don't want to print them out. I keep finding more uses for it. I do use it for regular reading too, but not that often. I use my Paperwhite for that. |
