Hmmm, I'm on a computer with Windows 11 which was updated from Windows 10. I've never had the GL4+ appear in calibre at all before or after the update. Ah, well, I'm fine sideloading via Windows Explorer.

Now I have a book that refuses to appear in the Nook library even though I can see the file on the Nook in Windows Explorer. I tried rebooting the Nook, using different a different computer, checking the book for errors in calibre's ebook editor. Previous books from the same publisher work fine. I can't figure out what it is about this book that my Nook doesn't like. Very frustrating.

I hope this helps but can you access developer options on your Nook? If so change usb behavior to mtp and it should show up as a device on Calibre. Then try adding the problem book via send to device. Leave it connected when it says job done and open the library. It might take a few moments for the cover to appear but if it did go into your Nook the cover will pop up.
That's how I sideload into the full memory of my Glow4 and I'm using win11. |

@Scoob
The Nook shows as a device in calibre on my older computer so I did try loading via calibre and via Windows Explorer on that, but no luck. @Jon Tried the epub check already. Haven't tried epub to epub conversion yet. I gave up messing with it for the moment put it on my Kobo. I'd prefer to have it on my Nook though. The book is the January issue of Uncanny Magazine. All the previous issues I have sideloaded (via Windows Explorer) without a problem. Last edited by lkmiller; 01-20-2025 at 01:10 AM. |

Another book went missing so I figured it must be a corrupt database. I factory reset the Nook, and then I was able to add the same books that wouldn't show previously.
I went to recreate my shelves and discovered the previously used shelf names are now "burned". They don't show on the reset nook because they only contained sideloaded books. But when I try to reuse an old shelf name when creating a new one, I'm told there is already a shelf with that name. Same goes for trying to rename a shelf once created. Grrr! So I guess the lesson is to delete any shelves that only have sideloaded books and sync before factory resetting the Nook. Otherwise, you'll forever have these burned phantom shelves associated with your account. Luckily I only had 3, and I was able to slightly alter the name to recreate the two I still want. |

About those shelf names being locked out from use, there was another poster that had the same issue and according to them they had to wait a week until the name became available again.

Just a note that the calibre version 7.25 was released today and the Nook Glowlight 4 Plus should now work with calibre on Windows.

It works! After reading Sirtel's post, I immediately updated my Calibre and downloaded my newest Stephen King book. Wow...thank you Calibre and thank you Sirtel for letting us know about this!!

Still not showing up at all on my Window 11 computer with calibre 7.25. Is there something I can do to get calibre to see that the Nook is there?
Not a big deal. I'm fine continuing to save from calibre to my desktop and using Windows Explorer to sideload to the Nook. |

I have a Nook GlowLight4 (GL4) and haven't had a problem using it with Calibre after setting it up. I just start Calibre, connect my GL4, tap the button to allow my computer to access it, and it shows up in Calibre. Then I just select the ebooks and click on "Send to Device." I just have to make sure that I properly eject the GL4 when I finish.
Added: I use Windows 11. Last edited by Solitaire1; 02-12-2025 at 10:03 PM. Reason: To add to original post. |

The Glowlight 4+ is MTP so there is no connecting or ejecting. It shows up in Windows Explorer as soon as I plug it in, but never appears as a device in calibre.
