Moving books to another library

I dropped a bit of a clanger yesterday.

I migrated my Calibre install to a new laptop a while back. I then added a load more books.

Yesterday I purchased some new books (30-40) and put them in my Calibre library - on the old PC and set up all the metadata for them

Is there a simple way to migrate those 30-40 books to my new install with their metadata or do I just need to add them to the correct PC and set them all up all over again?

@dvd8n - I would do this
  1. create a new library on your old computer on a thumb drive,
  2. copy the 30-40 new books from the old library to that new one on the thumb drive
    1. to do that select the 30-40 books in the old library,
    2. right click and Select Copy to Library,
    3. browse to the library on the thumb drive, click OK
  3. Take thumb drive to new computer,
  4. register the library on the thumb drive, do that via Library Maintenance->Create New Library
  5. switch to the thumb drive library
  6. select all the books and copy books to the main library on new computer

Thanks - I'll give that a go over the weekend.

You cannot believe how timely this post & answer are. I was searching for some info on how to merge two libraries.

This method works very well.

Over the years i've used this method to merge, split, divide, break and fix and make a separate library for my books and my wife's library.

Along similar lines, I am having a similar issue....i have an old pc laptop that doesn't work very well...have a calibre library on the pc which i transferred to ibooks via usb and iTunes. I had several books that i made notes and highlights on through ibooks. when i try to put the same .epub file into ibooks on my new mac (through connect to server on calibre), the highlights and notes don't carry over.

If I use this thumb drive method, would the notes and highlights be retained? Also, is there another way to transfer without a thumb drive? can i use dropbox or something?

Unfortunately the transfer to iBooks is one-way (calibre->iBooks), so any changes you make in iBooks are never seen in Calibre.
