Gaven (The Gift) by Anders Klostergaard Petersen (profile), a professor in the School of Culture & Society's Department of Religious Study at Aarhus University, is #44 in the Tænkepauser (Reflections) series of Danish-language 60-page layperson-accessible introductory essays on various academic topics, this installment a somewhat philosophical one tackling the societal notion of gifts and the thought behind them which is said to count more than the gift itself (at least for bad gifts, though maybe sometimes you don't want to know what the thought behind those were), reflection upon which can apparently be a gift in itself, free for a limited time courtesy of Aarhus University Press in Denmark.
