Ok, water resistant then. And this one is not, for anyone concerned about moisture and spills. Which, since the Elipsa appears to be aimed at students and note-taking working folks (writers, researchers, etc.) is practically a necessity. Slosh Red Bull or whatever on it while pulling an all-nighter before the big exam and you can kiss your books, your notes and your $400 goodbye.

When the H2O first came out, Kobo showed it underwater in a pool. I think that classes it as waterproof.

The difference between the Kobo Aura H2O and Kobo's other water resistant ereaders is that the Aura H2O was sealed complete with a rubber cover over the USB port/uSD card slot/reset button against water ingress. Kobo's later models and all the other water resistant ereaders I'm aware of have a nano-coating from HZO over the electronics to protect them from water. This coating does not protect the USB port and is rated for "clean water".

This is from Kobo's website which to me says waterproof.

The El(l)ipsa looks fun. It definitely would be useful to me if its price ($399) didn't place it beyond my budget.

I do wish the Elipsa had ComfortLight Pro. Perhaps a sale in a few years' time will bring the device within my affordable range.

I have the Kobo Auro H2O v2, and there is no rubber cover over the USB port. It came described as:
Quote:
Your Kobo Aura H2O is waterproof

Sink into a good read in the bath or by the pool without worry. Your Kobo Aura H2O has HZO Protection™, making it waterproof from the inside out and ready to go places other devices can’t. So, relax, fill the tub, or hit the beach and start reading.
I can imagine that spilling a can of something sugary over a reader would present all sorts of difficulties quite apart from the usual issues of immersion in water ... but at least with the H2O I can wash the sugar off in up to 2m of water.

Personally, I was impressed. Eleven minutes to read out the press release and not add any information, an impressive skill.

Any idea on how long a stylus tip lasts on the new Kobo?

And any idea of the cost of additional tips? Or when they will be available for purchase?

5 nibs are $10 USD/$15 CAD (Or four interest free payments of $2.50!). You can get them June 24th. See here.

How long nibs last depends on the material on the screen/possible screen protectors and what the nib itself is made of. So it's a bit hard to say. The Remarkable 2 ones are made of a softer plastic and from what I heard wear down in a month or two, the hard plastic ones in my Staedtler stylus don't seem worn down after 7 months of use.
