Kobo Books gift certificates
I don't see any method of purchasing e-books as a gift for someone on the Kobo site.
Is this possible? ltr |

I don't think there is. The salesperson I talked to said that they want to make Chapters gift cards usable on the Kobo website by Xmas, but I am not sure how accurate that is.

I bought someone a preloaded Visa card to use like a gift certificate.

while this is what I've been doing and what we'll probably continue to do once my ladies get their Kobo's for christmas, I don't like the fact that we have to pay a surcharge on the cards, if we don't use them within a month, we get hit with another surcharge, and of course if we don't use the entire amount, then it's money lost. At least with a giftcard, you're not hit with surcharges (the first one I don't mind so much, but it's the monthly administrative fee that kills me), and you can put all your chapters gift cards into a pooled account.

If you visit the Chapters-Indigo website and go into the eBooks section, you will get this message when you click on a book cover:

They'll probably get it done. That's a pretty big potential for sales there.

Especially with Christmas fast approaching. Huge opportunity they don't want to miss.

According to what Chapters/Indigo is being told Kobo is still only allowing Credit Card purchases for ebooks, but there is a Debit Card option which were being told is in the works. Currently you can't use your Chapters/Indigo irewards/gift cards to make ebook purchases, though Kobo will probably have something similar to a gift card in the future.

Hi Mike. As above, your website says that using the Chapters/Indigo gift cards for ebook purchases is "coming soon."
