There are Mac users who have a Sony. They tend to use Calibre for organising and converting their books.

Excellent. Glad to hear that. Can you tell me how the navigation works with the folders. Does the menu just mirror the folders you create on the device? What about sorting? Can you sort by Name/Author/Date? If by Author does it sort by Lastname, Firstname or by firstname?

Does it currently support a dictionary? What about page numbers?

Great news. It can't happen soon enough. Hopefully with the BeBook and the Asktak Litebook coming out they will put some pressure on Bookeen to improve their customer support. Competition is very good for the customers.

So it's definitely not "one bookshop".
See also Sony Reader book sources beyond CONNECT.
Can you verify that DE Mac works with the Sony 505? I ask because on Windows you have to install the Sony eBook library before it works. Of course, you can't install that on a Mac.

Yes, it mirrors the folders on the device or SD-card. You select the memory to read from (internal or SD), and you're presented with the folders and files in the root directory. Opening a folder (by pressing the corresponding button on the numeric keypad) will display the files and folders in that folder, and so on. Just what you'd expect from nested folder support

You can sort by date, filetype and title (i.e. filename, except with some filetypes such as FB2, in which case the device will read the metadata and sort by book title).

Unfortunately not.

It does support pagenumbers; there's a "Go to page..." menu-item, so you just enter the pagenumber with the numeric keypad and you're good to go.

Digital Editions won't see the Reader but if you manually copy purchased books to the Reader and it was registered to the same ID, you should be able to read them.
See here and here.
