epub to html

Odd question coming up.

Can an epub be created in which the text of the book, the htm files, are not split up into lots of small files?

Reason: I need to do some extensive editing, probably in OpenOffice, on a document that I only have as an epub.

I've experimented with 'do not split on page breaks' and setting 'split files larger than' to large numbers, but it still leaves me with 43 htm files in the epub.

Sigil won't export to htm or html, only xhtml (in an sgf file). OpenOffice won't import xhtml.

I've tried epub to rtf in Calibre but the rtf created has a problem which appears with missing spaces at line ends which causes hundreds of words to be concatenated.

Another way to get html is to convert to MOBI and then when you convert that use the debug option and look in the input subdirectory for a single html file.
