Help! I think I bricked my new Iliad.

I cannot believe it... today it was my first day with my new Iliad and... I broke it!!

I followed the guide to install the developer package until the points:

2. After you have selected your MAC address, click "Send Developer Package".
3. Now, connect to the IDS on your iLiad. You should see a message saying "Downloading Developer Package".
4. After it installs, your iLiad should automatically reboot.

I downloaded the package successfully. The Iliad rebooted... and it rebooted again, and again, and again, it never stops rebooting!

Mi firmware version is 2.12, Italian language.
Please help me...

Take a look at this guide. https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17343

You might need to use the format option if your registry is corrupt.

Solved, thanks!

I feel much better now....
Thank you so much!
What do you suggest me to do now? to try installing the developer package again in the same way I tried before I bricked?
The configuration section now says 2.10.... is it right? shouldn't it be 2.12 (the one I had before the bricking)?

Do a system update by connection to the IDS. You have the developer package installed, but something you installed after it corrupted the registry.

What did you install? Was if FBReader?

Hi everyone

I'm a desperate new user of iLiad Book Edition. I like the device, but looks like iRex doesn't exist anymore and I can't connect to IDS, are these IDS servers also "gone" ? Can someone confirm (I live in Europe) this who connected to IDS before or the problem is with my internet connection which fails from time to time. Second thing: is there any other realistic way to unlock (install developer package) to the device without using IDS ?

Thanks everybody for your replays.

I do not know whether IDS servers are up/down, so cannot comment on this part.

Other than unlocking from IDS the only way is to boot from prepared CF card and then overwrite two "magical" xml files. Too bad, the content of the prepared CF is not allowed to be redistributed ...

Problem - iRex seems to be out of business... I received this message:
"As publicly announced, IREX TECHNOLOGIES is no longer trading
and this website has been permanently closed..."
Where to now, Adam?

Which URL were you using? What file were you trying to get?

Hi Shaggy - thanks for the response! My iLiad started to get file corruption and I couldn't even open some files. I put it off for as long as possible, but after a while I realized it was seriously wrong. So I decided to flash it. This brought it back instantly to v 2.10. The next stage, where I connect to their network and the 2.12.1 firmware is sent down the line no longer happens now because, of course, there is no server!
So what I really need to do is flash the firmware with a developer's license (which I had!) and get all my old programs working again, like the newcontentlister, mxrvt, fbreader etc...
Glad of any help you can offer me!
Best,
~Steve
