Text in a box?
I have a feeling the answer is "no", but... is there any way to have text inside a box in a mobi file on a Kindle?

Use a table and make the border visible.

Yes, that's the way that I do it - a single row, single cell, table with a visible border.

Another way is to include it as an image, of course, although if you do it that way it doesn't scale with the rest of the text.

Hey

It's worth adding that if you have a lot of text in the box, Kindles will only show one screen's worth - it won't display a single cell over two screens. So if it's more than a couple dozen words I'd check it on Kindle Previewer.
