reorgainse epub into 1 file per chapter

what is the easiest way to restructure a large book to be 1 file per chapter so that page breaks do not occur within chapters when reading it - due to file segment boundaries.

e.g. in the source file let's say there are 17 segments ( xhtml splits) for the story text, but that the story has 93 chapters ( & I have 93 entries in TOC already )
- I want to convert so that there are 93 segments in the output epub.

are there any auto solutions. i thought that "flatten epub" may be a clue but I think it's actually a red herring!

By default, Calibre will insert a page break before each chapter and split files on page breaks. So this should be automatic, unless you have changed the chapter mark (common options -> structure detection) or the splitting (output options -> ePub).

yes, but it can only do that if the book has proper chapter tags. i want a workaround for where the book has no chapter tags as such but does already have a toc pointing to chapter staarts.

Don't know if this can be of any use.
Had similar problem when converting plain text: clicking the wizards for headers (without using it) I got a fairly good view of what Calibre was reading in the file. After a couple of trials, regular expression to detect chapters did ALMOST all the work. Had to refine through Sigil to split 5 chapters still overlooked.
