If it's intended for the educational market I hope they'll be flexible on the colors -- lots of students would probably prefer their own school colors.

The catalog showed an all-black version, and a black and white version as well.

From Nate's review:

Quote:
The wand on the right can work with the Jetbook to do OCR which you can then play back as TTS.
What does 'play back as TTS' mean? Will anything scanned be available only as an audio file, or also readable on the JK-12?

Sorry to be dim.

Catlady, where did you see the catalog?

It is at http://www.ectaco.com/products/downl...atalog_low.pdf

Note that the Jetbook+ appears to be replacing both the Jetbook and the Jetbook Lite (neither one is in the catalog).

These people are rapidly convincing me that I made a good choice giving away my extra Nooks and replacing them with Jetbooks, especially as their new battery model is txt only.

Thanks for all the info.

I think I may pick up a backup JBL before it's too late. The JB+ looks like an upgrade to the JB, but discontinuing the JBL for the txt-only Mini is a mistake IMO.

I don't look forward to the search for a replacement for the JBL. At this point I know
of no other reader with the same set of features.

What other readers run on standard user replaceable batteries?

Do any of those also support at least .epub and .pdb?

Hopefully, my JBLs will last long enough that a better reader, with at least the above
features will have come along. If Ectaco isn't offering the JBL, or the something better,
by then, they will lose my patronage.

Luck;
Ken

The K-12 is really interesting to me because of some of the content that (i think) comes on it.

It "offers" sat prep courses but does that mean you get it already or you have to pay extra? It seems in the catalog to be vague but other things seem to point towards it definitely being on the unit.
