kepubify v3.1.6

I've released kepubify 3.1.6.

This release updates dependencies, fixes SIGILL crashes on older macOS machines, and fixes the hyphenation CSS.

Norton av doesn´t like version 3.1.6. Delete kepubify when I try to use it.

Oh, not again... Can you report it as a false positive, please?

Edit: Is this the 32-bit windows binary? For some reason, a lot of 32-bit windows Go binaries are ending up as false positives.

That's because Norton AV is garbage. It's been so for a rather long time. The solution is to delete Norton AV and run the AV that comes with Windows. Norton is a system resource hog. It very much noticeably slows down the system and there are a lot of false positives.

That makes no difference for Norton, it's just 64-bit garbage instead of 32-bit garbage. And 64-bit Windows can run 32-bit binaries no problem so you do need to check what binary you're using not just whether Windows is 64-bit or 32-bit.

JSWolf is right though, you're far better off getting rid of Norton.

If you do a search for Norton is garbage, you'll find all kinds of hits for that. I used to use Norton AV but once it dug itself into Windows and slowed down my system, I removed and and never looked back.

I'm running Windows security with Windows 10 and I've never had it find a single false positive. Plus, I've never had a single virus since running the AV supplied with Windows.

For your information Kaspersky Internet Security 2020 has no issues with v3.1.6.

It downloaded fine with Firefox and I also did a manual scan using KIS which reported it as clean.

The usual Windows box warning about it being unsigned popped up when I went to install it, but that happens with a lot of software.

For what it's worth, Windows Defender does not flag either the 32-bit or 64-bit executables.

That's why I stopped including 32-bit cssextract executables for kobopatch. This seems to be a common issue with 32-bit Go binaries (e.g. these). I've reported it as a false positive.

Can anyone explain, for dummies, what exactly do these lines

-webkit-hyphenate-limit-after: 3;
-webkit-hyphenate-limit-before: 3;
-webkit-hyphenate-limit-lines: 2;

Thank you very much

See https://www.w3.org/TR/css-text-4/#hyphenation for the details. In short:
  • -webkit-hyphenate-limit-after is integrated into the standards-track "hyphenate-limit-chars" property. It specifies the minimum number of characters that must occur after a hyphen.
  • -webkit-hyphenate-limit-before is also integrated into the standards-track "hyphenate-limit-chars" property. It specifies the minimum number of characters that must occur before a hyphen.
  • -webkit-hyphenate-limit-lines limits the number of successive hyphenated lines. Set to 2, it means you'll never see 3 or more lines together with hyphens at the end.

The standards-track "hyphenate-limit-chars" property also allows specifying the minimum number of characters a word must have to be considered for hyphenation at all.
