Kobo Nia bricked

Hello,

Recently, I think I have bricked my Kobo Nia.

I tryed to perform a hard reset pressing 30s the on/off button. After the reader restarted, I have obtained a blank screen and the led blinking during 1 minute, after that, the reader restart (or it seems it do that) and the led blink again during 1 minute, and again and again..

I try to restart again pressing the button 30s put, the reader doesn't change the behavior, blank screen and the blinking led during 1 minute and restart.

I tryed to copy the update file on .kobo directory directly on internal SD card plug it directly to my laptor and I restart to force its update but, whe I extract the SD card, the file disapers.

Do you have a Kobo Nia image to burn it to my sd card and recovery my reader?

Thank you in advance

Could you tell me if your device was bought at FNAC? There are two models of Kobo Nia: the Fnac edition and the Kobo Edition

Unless you know something the rest of us don't, there isn't. Kobo sells the same device everywhere. Some places might repackage it, but, the device inside is the same. The differences you see are based on the affiliate in the device which is set when you are setting up the device. And the affiliate can be changed.

@maguila1: Rereading your post, I am not sure if you have done a manual factory reset. Or done it properly. You mention holding the power button down for 30 seconds, but, that only turns the device of. You should follow the instruction on https://help.kobo.com/hc/en-us/artic...or-Kobo-Elipsa to do the full manual factory reset.

@galaxxyafonso, Yes, I was bought at FNAC but I didn't see any FNAC logo when it started.

@davidfor, Yes, You're right, I tried to copy the update packages on .kobo directory and the ereader has the same behavior. I think the SD card is write protected in some way becouse, if I retire the SD card and plug in again, the package file disapears from ./kobo directory.

Sorry for my explanation, Yes, I tried to explain that I followed the official kobo instructions to perform a hard reset and I obtained a beautiful bricked ereader. I have tried to repeat the steps but the ereader doesn't respond, the screen is "white" and the led is blinking and after a minute, it seems to restart and again, "white" screen and blinking led.

I have read in some threads for other Kobo models there is a recoveryfs and rootfs partitions on SD but, really, I don't know what I can delete or modify. I can access to the partition recoveryfs plug in the SD card to a Linux laptop.

Regards

@davidfor, yes, you're right. I tried to put the firmware in the .kobo directory directly to the SD card but it has to be write protected in some way because, after deattach the SD card from my laptops (Windows and Linux), any copied file disapears when the SD card was attached again.

Sorry I didn't explain the isssue very well. Yes, tried to follow these steps to perform a hard reset a lot of times and I have obtained a beautiful bricked ereader. The symtomps are: "white" screen, blinking led, ereader restart after 1 minute and starts again with the blinking led and the white screen..

Reviewing other threads I have read that the recoveryfs can be modified to try to recovery it but I really don't know what I can modify to solve the problem. I can access to this FS plug in the SD card to my Linux laptop.

I thought the most quick way to solve the problem was rewrite the SD Card completely. Just you said, I have seen the thread where somebody has this image and I asked for it, too.

Did you ever managed to fix your Nia?
I just gotten my hands on a Nia from marketplace, when I try to sign in, it froze, naturally I press and hold power button, then boom, same flashing screen/led like yours.
Record time device bricking. Facepalming so hard right now.
