PDF line spacing

Hi everyone, I have just converted about 50 PDF files to epub with Calibre. They are all novels so fairly straightforward, no images etc. I cleaned up the PDF files first using cropping and redaction and things went quite well overall. About 7 or 8 of the epub generated files have spacing issues. It appears that a new line code has been inserted at the end of every line in the pdf file. When I look at the pdf files they all look the same. I can't see any obvious reason why some would have a lot of extra line breaks inserted.
Does anyone know if there is anything that I can specify in Calibre to prevent these extra line breaks. Any ideas what might have caused them in the first place? All my source files are basically straight text.

Thanks.........Jackie

Use the line unwrap factor in PDF output in the conversion settings.

line breaks in pdf to mobi conversion

I've been having the same problem, and was unable to resolve it using Line upwrap factor settings. One particular pdf converted without this problem using Mobipocket Creator. I much prefer Calibre (even donated!), but this is one instance where I had to go elsewhere.
