And as far as I recall, it has been discontinued, hower the Glo HD is still available in local stores -- a quick stock check shows more Glo HDs than Aura Ones in stock. Are we arguing that it is a not a Kobo product with a 300 DPI screen? You know, the ones that JohnF didn't seem to realize existed. And then we have the Aura One which is also a 300 DPI device.

I was referring to Kobo's current line up and their strategy, i.e. what is for sale currently, in particular in the U.S. Also, in particular, what I would like/am interested in. In particular, I'm less interested in the larger sizes, so, again, Kobo has no 6" 300ppi devices. In particular, eink devices. Sorry if that wasn't all clear in my other post. I've heard the argument that for larger sizes, Amazon sees their tablets as filling this niche. I do think the Aura One is very nice device, and I will probably buy one if "my" H2O dies. In particular, I don't use the H20, but I did buy it (for me mum), completely support it (i.e. buy books and put them on the reader), and do support for when the firmware acts up; so I consider it "mine". So again, I think it is interesting that Amazon offers 3 6" ppi devices, and Kobo offers none. And as I said earlier (sorry if I'm repeating myself): if my Glo HD dies, I'm going back to my Glo, than my Aura (original), and if those dies, I'm going to look at all vendors; if Kobo still offered a 300pp 6" device, the choice would be a no-brainer (for me). |

Crossing my fingers that they will indeed produce another. Hopefully waterproof, and with the library option that the One has. *Not that I need one, as I have two 300ppi 6" readers right now

I think that Kobo's pushed to sacrifice the GloHD for the sake of AE2. That's make more sense to me. Who's gonna buy the AE2 instead the GloHD considering the specs of each other devices? For the new solid design, or for the capacitive screen?
That's doesn't make sense here is the choice that Kobo's giving on his costumers. An 6'' 212ppi device of 2016, an 7,8'' 300ppi device of 2016 and last (but not least) an 6,8'' 265ppi device of 2014 (the older one...) IMO, there will be no other 6'' with Kobo brand at near future as for replacement of GloHD. There's no reason to do something like this anymore. They do what have (or not have) to do. I hope that Kobo is gonna to pay some attention for restitution on his older device, the H2O and will make an acceptable 6,8'' 300ppi device (lets call it "GloHD+" ) with the same design like the Aura Ones and with the price level between the AE2 and KA1. |

According to Goodereader has been discontinued, and will be replaced by another Glo version:

I can only speculate that the Glo HD was too expensive to produce at a marketable price, and with the lower resolution screen the Aura Edition 2 has a better profit margin. For now, I am staying with my Aura 6" with a nice flush screen. My wife will happily hang on to the money for me... |
