Pabel-Moewig startet großes eBook-Projekt

Zum 50. Jubiläum gibt es alle Rhodan-Hefte und Silberbände für iPad und Kindle.
(insgesamt über 201.600 Seiten)

Ich finde die Meldung ein bisschen reißerisch. Perry Rhodan eBooks gibt es schon recht lange. Jetzt wird das Erscheinen nur etwas beschleunigt.
Die eBooks sind übrigens für jeden Reader oder Computer geeignet und nicht nur iPad und Kindle.

Na ja, die PDF Scans die so im Netz rumgeistern sind jedenfalls nicht der Brüller, vor allem bei den Silberbänden, und wie beam schon schreibt gibt es die EPUBs schon länger, allerdings finde ich die Preise doch recht happig. 1,59€ für ein fast 50 Jahre alten Heftroman, der schon seit 49 1/2 Jahren Gewinn einfährt ist mir einfach zuviel. 20€ pro 100 Hefte (zumindest die ersten 1500, dann kann man ja graduell die Preise erhöhen) könnten wir gerne drüber reden, aber beim jetzigen Stand der Dinge bleibe ich bei den Scans

Also 20 Cent pro eBook. Is' klar.

Jetzt musst du mir bitte erklären, warum 2011 jemand ernsthaft etwas für 20 Cent auf den Markt werfen sollte? Daran verdient keiner mehr was. Das lohnt sich für niemanden mehr.

Und zumindest die ersten 1500 lagen/liegen nicht digital vor (und so gut die Scans der illegalen Szene normalerweise sind; bei den PRs sind sie häufig tatsächlich grausig). Das heißt, den Aufwand für Einscannen und Nachbearbeitung willst du auch mit den 20 Cent abgegolten wissen?

Aber dann Hunderte von Euros für drei Lesegeräte ausgeben können. Manchmal frag' ich mich ja wirklich ...

Hast Recht, 20€ sind vielleicht wirklich etwas tief gegriffen, das erste 100er Paket kostet bei beam 120€, und da gibt es alle Bände bis 2500 schon länger als EPUB, nicht erst seit vorgestern.
Was ich mich nur immer wieder frage ist, wie denn die ganzen Verlage ihre Manuskripte aufbewahren, da ja heute nicht mehr von Hand gesetzt wird müssen sie ja in irgendeiner Form elektronisch vorliegen, die auch von den Druckmaschinen umgesetzt merden kann.
Davon ausgehend bleibt die nächste Frage, wie schwierig die konvertierung zu Epub / Mobi... ist, bzw wieviel ich nachher noch korrigieren muss.
Wenn ich 2500 Epub Sätze in Mobi umbauen will, dann sind das vier Klicks, und der Rechner ist dann einen Tag beschäftigt, aber Nachbearbeitung fällt dafür eigentlich aus, als wären 20-30 Cent pro Heft eigentlich ein angemessener Preis

Das ist genau die richtige Einstellung um dem Verlag zu zeigen, dass das Interesse an Perry Rhodan immer noch vorhanden ist: sich die Hefte illegal zu besorgen, anstatt die Autoren und den Verlag und diejenigen die die ebook-Versionen erstellen für ihre Arbeit zu bezahlen.

Klaust du die Print-Version der Neuauflagen auch vom Kioskstand weg nur weil dir der Preis dafür zu hoch erscheint?

Wie kommst du darauf, dass es bei beam alle Bände bis 2500 gibt?

Es gibt 1-249, 1400-1499 und 2500-aktuell, d.h. es fehlen noch über 2000 Bände. Und bis Band 2500 lag nichts als ePub vor. Das ist alles neu erstellt worden.
Und zu einem großen Teil musste das aus den alten Vorlagen eingescannt werden (über den Sinn und Unsinn ausgebliebener digitaler Archivierung in Verlagen in den letzten ca. 20 Jahren können wir ein anderes Mal sprechen).

Ehm, das heißt, das ePub darf dann noch 1.59 kosten, aber die Mobi-Datei soll dann 20 Cent kosten, weil die Konvertierung ja nur drei, vier Klicks sind? Oder soll die ePub-Datei dann auch so billig sein, weil das Mobi ja so günstig zu erstellen ist? Entschuldige bitte, aber für solch kruden Gedankengänge fehlt mir jedes Verständnis.

Wenn die alten Hefte als ePub genau so aussehen wie die aktuellen dann ist der Preis schon ok. Gut, es könnten für die älteren Ausgaben vielleicht 0,99€ sein.

Wem es nur um den Inhalt, und nicht um das künstlerische Gesamtwerk geht (Bildchen und so) der ist mit den PDF-Scans aus dem Netz gut bedient. Die sind schnell in ePub oder Mobi konvertiert, und reichen zum lesen.

Ich für meinen Teil bin mit dem Angebot bei Beam zufrieden. Mal sehn wie die Preise für die älteren Ausgaben ausfallen. Und 1,59€ habe ich schnell mal für einen Espresso ausgegeben, und der hält nicht so lange...

Amazon ist deutlich günstiger als Beam: Einzelpreis 1,49 statt 1,59, Paketpreis für 50 Hefte 50 Euro statt 65.

Hat schon mal jemand getestet, ob die Amazonversionen mit oder ohne DRM sind?

Nicht zwingend. Die Ausgaben, die nun erscheinen, sind eine komplett neu erstellte Edition. Aber Sinn würde es schon machen, stimmt.

Die Silberbände und die 50-Hefte-epubs, die jetzt vom Verlag rausgegeben wurden, haben den selben Preis bei beam und Amazon.
Die Hefte (1 - 249 und 1400 - 1499 und 2500 - 2599), die bisher bei beam zu kaufen waren (und noch sind), wurden ja von beam selbst erstellt und sind (noch?) nicht von den neuen Verlags-Versionen ersetzt worden. Daher rührt wohl der höhere Preis.

Hab jetzt ne zeitlang auf amazon.de gesucht aber nur die einzelnen Ausgaben gefunden; von Abo keine Spur.
