Angry Help, getting frustrated

I am new to calibre, and have been trying to get it installed and working, however, I have not yet gotten Calibre to work at all yet. I keep getting an error for a bad database and it exits the program. I have uninstalled/reinstalled, and have done all the trouble shooting that I can find. Still no luck.

I have a system running Windows 7 Home Premium.

This is what I get from running calibre-debug -g:

starting up...
catastrophic failure initializing GUI, bailing out...
Error in sys.excepthook:

Original exception was:

And that is all that I get... Please help!!!

Good to have your company, Cardinal. Hope you've overcome the hitch now. Calibre is must-have library software. Best wishes. Neil
