Thank for the help.
------ A complete victory has been achieved! It turned out that the "fault" was a USB port. For some strange reason it worked normally as a USB drive, but did not give Calibre to find out the device. Last edited by kegegk; 01-05-2019 at 07:37 AM. Reason: victory |

not connecting to Fire HD8
I have a new Fire HD8 but Calibre is not recognizing it. I have tried suggestions but am still not getting it. I do not have any ignored devices. Any suggestions would be appreciated. It seems it is not being recognized. Not a suitable MTP device - being ignored

That device is reporting it has no storage available, which is why calibre refuses to connect to it.
This can usually be fixed by rebooting both the device and the computer. Also sometimes faulty/failing SD cards cause it. If you have an SD card in the device, try removing it. |

I tried rebooting both and do not have any SD cards in - still does not show Send to Device. Storage shows 6.77 GB free of 10.52 GB.
Also found this: calibre, version 3.40.1 ERROR: Unhandled exception: <b>AttributeError</b>:'NoneType' object has no attribute 'startswith' calibre 3.40.1 embedded-python: True is64bit: False Windows-10-10.0.17763-SP0 Windows ('32bit', 'WindowsPE') 32bit process running on 64bit windows ('Windows', '10', '10.0.17763') Python 2.7.15+ Windows: ('10', '10.0.17763', 'SP0', u'Multiprocessor Free') Interface language: None Traceback (most recent call last): File "site-packages\calibre\gui2\preferences\device_user_defi ned.py", line 74, in device_info File "site-packages\calibre\gui2\preferences\device_user_defi ned.py", line 68, in fmtid AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'startswith' I don't know if that helps or not. I certainly am technology challenged but used a prior Kindle until it died a few weeks ago and had no problem downloading from Calibre. We are going on vacation and I need books! Thanks again. New Device Nook Glowlight Plus
I hope this is the right place for this.
I ran the "Debug device detection" (thanks to davidfor for directions) and posted the results in the News forum to check that I’d done it right. Renate posted this – “This confirms the expected. You appear to have disabled the MTP device plugin, re-enable it and your device will be detected automatically. The Glowlight plus is an MTP device.

Nook Glowlight Plus 7.8 not detected by Calibre
I just bought the new Nook and have been able to sideload epubs on it, however, I've used Calibre for years and it won't recognize my new device. I went through all the suggestions. Here is my debug report. Please advise. What am I doing wrong? Thanks!

My Nook Glowlight 3 works fine (with or without the plugin enabled, although the plugin, when ebabled, reports that no MTP devices are connected). My PC is Windows 10 if that makes any difference. EDIT: I just saw your answer to Michael Alfaro. I'll wait for the next release. Thank you. Last edited by disconnected; 05-29-2019 at 10:11 AM. Reason: later post |
