Flash Question for Ermine Beta Testers...

What version of Flash Lite is coming with Ermine?
Is it compatible with Flash 10.2?

The reason I ask is, HBO now offers web OnDemand programing to mobile devices (called HBOgo).
I tried to download the App to the current Dingo OS and it cannot run. The App says it requires Android 2.1 or better to run.

Thanks for your help,

As far as I know it's the latest Flash Lite. By "lite" it means it doesn't offer all the capabilities that Flash 10.2 has. An app looking for Flash 10.2 will probably not recognize Flash Lite as adequate.

HBO to go will not work with Flash Lite. The Flash Lite Plugin installed on the PE is Version M2.2.4.b-eng.beta3eng

There is a Flash Lite 4 but I would be weary of installing it. If you want to know the latest versions for All applications (User and System) installed on your device download Quick System Info Pro FREE from the Amazon App Store (Ermine required). An older version which should run on Dingo can be found here: http://www.mediafire.com/?8ns5ovsqarnquil

I'm still convinced that the PE and EE can support Flash 10.1 or even 10.2 because there is a browser called Skyfire with built in Flash support that I played around with on my PE but I couldn't get the buffer window to close. In case you are interested:

I downloaded some app that needed flash 10.something.

So I loaded up applanet on my PE and was able to find the flash 10.something download and installed it. The app that needed the higher flash then worked...

Was not aware of this. You can download the Applanet Market .apk from applanet.net (for some reason the icon says PC download, but it was the .apk file, which installed fine.) However, I am unable to find 'Flash' in searching the Applanet Market.
EDIT: OK, I found it searching for Adobe. It's called Flash Player 10.3. Trying to install, just hanging. Will investigate further.

How did you do this, birdy?

Thanks cheyennedonna, I actually did get that previously. I was curious what version birdy managed to find on Applanet that installed.

Now I am intrigued with Applanet though. It was able to detect apps I had previously downloaded from other sources, and presented me with updates for them. Some installed and some did not. It seems like an interesting Market app that I had not been familiar with.

Thanks everyone..

Cheyennedonna, I am assuming you cannot install the Flash 10.1.61 unless you are running Ermine.
I have not installed the Beta, I was waiting for the official release.
And by the looks of things, that is never going to happen.

NJReader,

Did you see this: http://www.entourageedge.com/forums/...ne-on-the-way? Maybe there is hope! Also, one of the new PE owners who can't post here said they talked with a tech person who also indicated the Ermine final release was still pending.

Fingers crossed!

I am a "full-sized" ee owner, and do not have the PE.
So I guess no Ermine for me.

There was no mention of it being a PE-only release, only that it was mentioned by a PE owner.

Well, after seening today's post "A Thank You" in the General Discussion. No one is getting the final Ermine release.

It has been fun folks.
Entourage had a good product, maybe ahead of its time. I still get comments from people about the side-by-side e-ink + tablet.
So what went wrong?

There's nothing wrong with the hardware. The C-level management and policies went wrong. They ignored developer enthusiasm for the device and never released an SDK. Without edge-specific, dual-screen apps there was no corresponding consumer enthusiasm. The company ignored suggestions to push the device to markets where it could do well, and focused only on trying to grab a slice of the education market.

And that market wasn't terribly interested as it turned out. No doubt the focus groups were wildly enthusiastic, but focus groups often are whereas the general public turns out to be less enthusiastic in paying out hard earned money when things are tight.
