As that link notes there is no wired connection possible to apple devices. Use the instructions for wireless connection.

Your ipad has to be on the same network as the server to be able to reach it and you have to make sure you dont have a firewall blocking access.

Do you have Calibre Companion? You need that for the special wireless connection option.
If you’re just using Safari, then you’ll need to start the Calibre content server and open the URL http://your-ip-address:8080/ on a web browser on the iPad to download books (alas, one by one). |

Somehow I have to find out if i'm being blocked. I'm on the same network.
First I heard of Calibre Companion. Do I just install it on my ipad and then carry on or is there anything special I must do within Calibre to activate it? |

ilovejedd, thank you, with calibre companion I'm able to maintain a wireless connection.
I still haven't been able to transfer an .epub but the device icon shows up in calibre. I have to take a step back and remove all the junk that's on my ipad. It may be causing me problems. again, thanks. |

at this point, it's all good.
only remaining small detail is how to delete an .epub book from apple's EPUBReader on my ipad. I can delete and reinstall the app but there must be a better way. i think I ended up with 2 copies, one in ipad main memory, one in ipad EPUBReader memory space. I used calibre to remove the copy in main memory but there is still a copy in EPUBReader. |
