Have You Ever...
Purchased or Downloaded a book just becuase you liked the cover? Have you ever not purchased a book becuase you really disliked the cover?
I know...I know... We should not judge a book by its cover, but, I just downloaded this freebie from Amazon becuase I find the cover appealing. Last edited by Nyssa; 11-03-2011 at 07:43 PM. Reason: Too many commas. |

Hell yes. But only if it's a buck or less, otherwise I read the description and reviews.

Heck, yeah. Michael Whalen has probably sold me more books than any author.
I mainly went to see the movie 'Fellowship of the Ring' because I loved Alan Lee's Tolkien illustrations so much. |

Nope. Read some amazing books with ugly covers and some terrible books with beautiful covers. Don't buy covers.

No, but I have done that with some movies, though.

Heh...That's funny becuase I won't with movies, especially not if it mean going to the theater...but, even with DVDs or Satellite/Cable, I really have to be interested to invest the time.
True, good point. |

I trust good cover art like I trust an advertisement to actually tell me the whole truth.

Covers have often drawn my interest to books I've ended up buying and enjoying, but the few times I've bought a book based mostly on the cover alone, I've been disappointed.

I have looked at a book because of the cover... but it's the description/content that make the buying decision not the cover, that just gained original attention... and appalling covers have done the same sometimes because I've had to look twice to make sure I was really seeing something so bad...

No, but I've NOT bought books because the sample that Amazon usually provides revealed virtually illiterate authors.
