Clara replacement screen
Hi!
I'm new here. My Clara has a broken screen and i was wondering if anyone knows were i can buy a replacement screen to fix it. I found a company where i can have it repaired for me (it would cost 99€, a new Clara 129€) so i asume replacement screens do exist, i just can't Find it anywhere on the internet. Maybe somebody here has Some experience with this? Thanks. |

I can't help with a pointer to the actual screen. But, from discussions about replacement screens for the other devices, the screen is the most expensive part in these devices. A lot of people decide it isn't worth the cost and go for a new device.

It is usually not worth it, and there will be problems unless you can get the exact same screen as your broken one (same VCOM, compatible waveform). My Kobo Aura display replacement is fine, except text is not as crisp at times, and the frontlight is just not very good (remember Kindle Voyage frontlight issues? Same here).
Maybe another excuse to get a new eReader tldr: don't unless it is for really cheap. |

I saw screens for the kobo glo or for aura for about 30€ on aliexpress...., so i figured if i could find something like that for the Clara for about that price or a little more it would be worth it. I replaced the screen of my iPhone several times, that wasn't too hard so i hoped it would be the same with the ereader. But inderdaad if it would cost me 100€ i would rather buy a new one. It's just that since i don't find any screen for the Clara i haven't deside if it's worth it 🙃

aliexpress has some displays, not sure if one is compatbile with clara
not even sure which screen type Clara is actually using, maybe open it up, unplug the display cable and check the label? you could also watch ebay for clara with other defects, like a broken USB port... maybe the display is still good. I bought a defective H2O from Ebay (basically paid shipping only) then a replacement display from aliexpress, so 30-35€ totals. Unfortunately, the replacement display is not perfect (developed a defective pixel row/column) but would still be servicable as a reader regardless... I use it for experimenting only If you have high expectations, want a perfect device, buying new (with warranty and return if unhappy) is pretty much the only option. ebay/aliexpress is a bit of a gamble. |
