Why do covers get lost?

At an appointment yesterday without internet access. I noticed that one of my Kobo store-loaded books reverted to just text cover. I had a cover uploaded for it. Where did it go?

Did you check to see if the cover was actually on your Kobo in the correct directory?

I wish I knew the answer. The last time this happened to me was not long after I had backed up the database. Since I hadn't added any more books in the meantime I copied the backup back to my Kobo and the covers returned. So the problem must lie within the database.

I would never mean folder because it's a directory.

Jon is being his usual pedantic self. Most of us accept that Directories and Folders are interchangeable terms; Jon sticks to the view that they are Directories.

Oh, i used the shorter word because typing is stillhard.

You could look in the thumbnails-preview folder which is at least human readable. The kobo-images folder has a mass of subfolders named 0 to 249 (I think 250 to 255 are possible but I've never seen them used). Inside those subfolders are other subfolders with the same naming. Inside those folders, you will see files with names ending in .parsed which are actually png files.

so:
kobo-images => 2 =>2 =>

I now have aphasia (spoken, writing less affected) and dysarthia so that would be hard.
