Kobo Plus not remembering "not interested" or "read"

The recommendations listing offers buttons to mark books as "not interested" or "already read". Those used to work, but now they make the book disappear immediately, and stay gone for the rest of the day, but next day they're back again. This prevents getting new recommendations. This problem occurred a year or two ago, and I cancelled my account. Some months ago I tried again, and the buttons were working, then they stopped working properly again. I've complained to customer service, but their eventual response was "Can't help you. Maybe the next update will fix it." Their proposed update doesn't list this bug.

Am I the only one having this problem, or are there thousands of customers being ignored? The problem is not in my browser, since I've tried marking books on three different browsers, and none stick. If I know that it's not affecting all customers, it's probably a bug in my personal account, so I could ask them to reset it, or delete my account so I could start a fresh one.

No replies yet. Is there anyone using Kobo Plus for whom those buttons work properly, with marked books not showing up again?

I'm not on Kobo Plus, but I have this happen somewhat frequently with my recommendations. The "not interested" doesn't stick, or else takes some days to take.

I don't use their recommendations that often but it's a rare occasion when my not interested doesn't stick. Have you tried a repair your Kobo account from Device information on your Clara? I don't know if it will have any effect but a few years back someone claimed that it helped with his recommendations.

Just to test again, I took a couple of passes at my list. The first time, I marked some books "read" or "not interested." They "took" and were replaced. Then I took a second pass and marked some others, and they disappeared, but no others have been added. This is a bit different from what I described, but the no-refresh has also happened to me in the past.

If click on "see your recommendations" from the home page, it shows the edited list. If I just scroll down to the horizontal list of recommendations on the home page, it shows the unedited list until I click "view all", when it goes back to the edited list.

Testing it on one day doesn't work. It remembers the marking for that day, but the next day those unwanted books are back again. Tea2's response made me wonder whether it was from my browser going directly to the recommendations page, so I tried loading from the home page yesterday and marking books. This morning I tried again from the home page, using "see your recommendations", and all the books I marked were back again.

Could someone using Kobo Plus please check whether their markings stay gone the next day?

I have found some unexpectedly good books and series from Kobo's recommendations, so I'd like to clear off the unwanted ones so I can see some new ones.

I eagerly await the day when we have AI "entertainment agents" looking for out next books, movies, etc, and actually learning what we like and don't like.

Going by current results from "AI", you may be waiting a long long time.

I have Apple Music and Apple has made a "radio station" based on what I've been listening to. Apple actually does a good job picking music that I like that I've not listened to but are similar to other music I've listened to.

So AI can work for recommendations.

I haven't needed an AI to do that. My general approach is to look at short story collections by multiple authors, and then look for more by the authors I liked.

Also, going through book reviews and awards helps a lot. Found some real gems both ways.

Also found some older super good books that were mentioned as favorites of my heros. Likely you won't get those from an AI or marketing scheme, just new ones.
