Yuck! And they're not vegetarian anyway.

Gelatin is a yellowish, odorless, and nearly tasteless substance that is made by prolonged boiling of skin, cartilage, and bones from animals. It's made primarily from the stuff meat industries have left over — we're talking about pork skins, horns, and cattle bones. |

I used to eat Peeps and preferred slightly stale ones. I usually only bought them after Easter when the grocery stores would sell off remaining Easter candy at deep discounts.
These days, I'm vegetarian, so Peeps are verboten (they contain gelatin, an animal product). My wife is Jewish and a vegetarian, making Peeps a double no-no (the gelatin used is pork derived). |

I've got one small pack on the go. Hopefully they'll be al dente soon. But I'm not holding my breath. The preservatives they pump into these things nowadays seem to keep them fresh forever.

For all you Peeps lovers, don't forget to go candy shopping Monday morning as stores will mark down their holiday items 30-50%. The good stuff sells out fast.

No. I'm a vegetarian. But even if I weren't, no. Why would anyone want to eat Peeps instead of chocolate?

I became a vegetarian in my late 20s, but I wouldn't eat jello probably since I was 11 or 12 and accidentally discovered what it was made of. My mother kept leftovers in margarine containers and when I grabbed one it was filled with bones with some meat and liquid. It was disgustingly gelatinous, and I wanted margarine. I never wanted jello again, and I don't think I ate what I was planning on either.

Somehow I managed not to even know what Peeps were until adulthood, when I saw them referenced in some online article or forum (can't remember what it was about). Just the picture of them makes me want to say Yuck without trying one! but since I've never actually eaten one I will vote "Huh?"

And Huh? wins by a whisker; I assume reflecting our international membership. However, given strong opinions on both sides, I expected Yum and Yuck to be closer. I hope all the Yummers found a sufficiency in their baskets this morning and the Yuckers were replete with malted eggs.
