I wish it to be true. I'm not satisfied with the approach of e-ink makers which put the lowest possible hardware spec just enough to open a book page in ~10s. There is no option to buy, say "A+" with just faster cpu/mem from original "A". I bet the price difference would be just few dollars.

The new sony 13" looks very interesting to me since it has quad core cpu - finally! One can do a lot on such computer

Well, if this isn't coming with HDMI, I'm not getting it. Not paying 800 bucks for an E-Reader only. I want to be able use it as an external monitor for my laptop/computer.

I guess we'll have to wait till October ? Either that or the new Dasung that's coming

I have understood that with HDMI port you can use the Boox Max as external monitor.So you can use, for example, a windows pc with an eink monitor.

HDMI ports are of course bidirectional, and hence can be used either for input or output, but I do agree that HDMI ports on mobile devices are pretty much always output ports, allowing the device to be connected to a digital projector or a TV.

Although HDMI cable is bidirectional the circuit has to be specialized to serve source or destination. The I.MX7 has only display out circuit built in http://cache.freescale.com/files/32b.../IMX7SRSFS.pdf

Nothing stops it from running software display solution via USB like Dasung does. The cpu has usb OTG.

Well either way, they should provide a way to be able to connect it to your computer somehow and use it as a monitor. Either via usb, VGA, HDMI or whatever.

If you check out the top video in the post immediately before yours, at about the 8:53 mark, the Onyx representative shows a prototype of the Max2 being used as a monitor when it is hooked up to a laptop. It seems to connect from the HDMI port on the laptop to the Max2's microUSB port.

Yeah I just watched it. Any news about the release date of the Max2 ?

I wonder why they don't make bigger scrrens than 13.3.

The type writer seems like a good idea but pointless since 9.7 is way too small. Might as well get a 10 inch Pixel qi Screen
