Because:
-- currently I am working chiefly using Kingsoft / WPS office automation (text editing) on the i86 using a bluetooth keyboard and a bit of extra software which I call through keyboard shortcuts (quicklaunch*) in order to make it more productive. -- with the ability to connect the device as a monitor, I can bring around a laptop and use, say, LibreOffice - more complete, faster etc. Of course, at that stage, I become able to do advanced things (eg.: coding, using a more production oriented system than Android, using faster hardware than that of a tablet etc.). This is valid for both indoors (with correct lighting, you get the sought of impact on the eyes of "paper instead of torchlight") and outdoors. * for those of you who want to try: adb -d shell am start -a android.intent.action.MAIN -n com.android.settings/.quicklaunch.QuickLaunchSettings |

Well, if this isn't coming with HDMI, I'm not getting it. Not paying 800 bucks for an E-Reader only. I want to be able use it as an external monitor for my laptop/computer.
I guess we'll have to wait till October ? Either that or the new Dasung that's coming |

An HDMI port on the Boox would mean you can connect it to an external monitor, NOT that you can use it as an external monitor

HDMI ports are of course bidirectional, and hence can be used either for input or output, but I do agree that HDMI ports on mobile devices are pretty much always output ports, allowing the device to be connected to a digital projector or a TV.

Nothing stops it from running software display solution via USB like Dasung does. The cpu has usb OTG. The big advantage of this cpu is hardware support for e-ink display, read more here http://goodereader.com/blog/electron...aders-is-imx-7 Quote:

I posted the video
Hello I posted my video of the Onyx Boox Max Carta here:
and there's also my video of the cool Onyx E Ink Laptop and their amazing 10.3" flexible reader here: Would be cool if one of you could post my videos as a news item on the front-page? |

Well either way, they should provide a way to be able to connect it to your computer somehow and use it as a monitor. Either via usb, VGA, HDMI or whatever.

If you check out the top video in the post immediately before yours, at about the 8:53 mark, the Onyx representative shows a prototype of the Max2 being used as a monitor when it is hooked up to a laptop. It seems to connect from the HDMI port on the laptop to the Max2's microUSB port.

Should make it possible to switch off the battery when using it as a monitor

I wonder why they don't make bigger scrrens than 13.3. The type writer seems like a good idea but pointless since 9.7 is way too small. Might as well get a 10 inch Pixel qi Screen |
