The Flying Dutchman brings death and despair to all ships he comes across. Vanderdecken must find a bride to remove his curse. Whilelmina, the daughter of old Von Straken, may be the one, but Tom Simpson and Wurtem Carlis are suitors as well. When Wurtem and Jan-Van Van-Jan meet, it will change Wurtem's life and prospects, but will it all be for the good?

The text is that of the first and only known edition published by Edward Lloyd in 30 numbers in 1851 in the classic 8-page per number style, authored anonymously, but generally assumed to be by James Malcolm Rymer, and found in the British Library and online.
Chapter XVIII appears twice and Chapter XLVII does not exist in the original publication and is retained here. The OCR, editing, and proofreading were performed by myself and reflects as exact as possible the original publication with no modernization of spelling or punctuation. All textual variants are found at the end of the book.
