Accused by Mark Toscano, a pseudonym for Italian author Salvo Toscano (Fantastic Fiction), is his mystery/crime thriller set in Sicily, Italy, centred around a reporter who finds dead a wrongfully imprisoned man he was intending to interview and is himself accused of the murder, which his criminal lawyer brother and a policeman must clear him of, by delving into the victim's past, which puts them on the dangerous trail of a prominent man's secrets, free for a limited time courtesy of publisher Head of Zeus' Aria imprint for digital first publications by newer and translated authors.

This was originally published in Italian in 2015 by Newton Compton as Insoliti sospetti and is apparently the 3rd novel in his series starring the Corsaro brothers, but the only one thus far to be available in English. According to the customer reviews, the author is a bestseller in his native language and country, and this novel employs a dual POV and has lots of Italian pop culture references, humorously contrasting with a literary noir feel.

Onofrio Palillo receives compensation many years after wrongful imprisonment for murder. Whilst trying to arrange an interview, Fabrizio Corsaro, a crime reporter, finds Palillo dead at his home.

Investigations reveal incriminating evidence, which lead detectives to arrest Fabrizio himself for the murder. It's left to his brother Roberto, a criminal lawyer, to save Fabrizo from the nightmare into which his life has suddenly been plunged.

With the help of deputy police prefect Domenico Fisichella, Roberto delves into Palillo's mysterious past. They discover an old secret that puts them on the trail of the most powerful man in Sicily, Giorgio Moncada.

A complex story, full of mystery and memorable characters.
