Pen bought from Amazon works great with the 800

After our parrot used the original pen from my 800SG as a chew toy and I couldn't find any penabled pens locally (funny thing is, it is made in Taiwan!) I got myself a new one from Amazon. 9mm thick for about US 27.-. feels much better than the original super thin version. It just arrived yesterday and I am finally back to navigating normally.

Just to let those of you who have damaged or lost their pens. Now, does anybody know where I can still get the luxury leather cover? I always put it off and then Irex went into chapter 11.

Could you post the brand and model? Or maybe a link to the Amazon page. It would be nice to know exactly which pens work with the DR800.

All 3 pens should work. It doesn't make sense to get the eraser pen since the Irex doesn't support the eraser function. So you have the choice between the slim pen (presumably the same size as the one that came with my 800SG) and the clip pen on the right (which is the one I got). The clip pen seems to be the same size as the one that came with the European 800S.

There are numerous threads on here with links. Basically, you want the "penabled" technology from Wacom.

As far as I know, iRex was the only retailer for it. With their shop offline, I think the only way you're going to get one now is by getting lucky and finding one on Ebay/etc.

Might be worth trying the UK iRex agent, Libresco. They are still showing the iRex DR800 and accessories as being available:

Thanks for the info, Harry. Couldn't find the cover for the 800, but I send them an e-mail, anyway.

Update -- they have it but they don't ship outside of Europe. And not getting the 19% back, having to ship to Germany first and from there to Taiwan -- that would add 40 pounds or more, is my guess.
