file conversion
Hello,I have installed Calibre on my Kindle,I am a complete novice as far as modern technology is concerned.I have books on discs that I cannot convert to MOBI.They are in various formats---XML DOC,LIT FILE,TEXT DOC,HTML DOCs.Can someone advise me how to convert please.Barry.

Well, you actually just install Calibre on your PC. Then you add books to the library, then hook up your Kindle to the PC through the cord, and simply pick the books you want to send to device. It should then ask if you want to convert them first, and you pick yes.

It's really simple. Just add the ebooks you want to convert into Calibre. Once the books are inside Calibre, choose the Convert Books option from the toolbar then click Convert Individually. Choose the Output Format you want and then click OK. Once the conversion is complete, right click on the books, choose "send to device" then "send to device memory" if you want to have the ebooks on your ereader.

Thank you for your replies,I have downloaded over 200 books over the past few months,but impossible to download XML DOCS.Can drag book over,but when I press Convert,a message comes up--CANT CONVERT,NO SOURCE FILE SHOWING.This also happens on some other files as well.Barry.

The best way to convert DOC to MOBI or AZW is to open it in LibreOffice and save in ODT format, that is an open equivalent of DOC and DOCX.
Calibre is able to convert ODT to any ebook format. |
