[GUI Plugin] Comfy Reminders
Comfy Reminders for Calibre!
![]() ![]() A comfy Calibre plugin that provides a combined reminders and notebook system with notification alerts, rich export options (XLSX/CSV/RTF/ICS), filtering capabilities, batch actions, and automatic backups. Features Version 1.2 enhances the Comfy Reminders plugin for Calibre by introducing the ability to create reminders based on custom date columns in your library. This means you can now automatically set up reminders using dates from any date-type column in your book database, making it more flexible for tracking book-related dates and deadlines. How to: click Settings to choose a custom date column. Then you can either: - Right click the plugin toolbar button and select "Create reminders from selected books" or - Add the plugin to context menu for books in the library Version 1.3: will add later Installation

I'm going to try to link it with my "library" library. Suggetion (wishful thinking, really): Would it be possible to create reminders based on a custom column?

I wasn't able to figure which custom column could be holding future dates... Next expected book release for a series? Then I would need to add a config dialog for user to set the custom column to be fetched, similar to what Count Pages does with #pages and #words... (but I wouldn't be changing the database, just reading it) |

Yes, something like that. In that way, you could select a range of books and add a reminder to the calendar based on the column (I think the book selection should be manual and the reminder creation automatic). |

Hi @Comfy.n
I am liking this addon and thank you for the effort to create it. ![]() Two issues I have noticed 1. The reminder showing "Overdue by 19 hours" in the image I created this yesterday and was set to alert me at 9am today. It is now 9:14am It shows 19 hours overdue and I believe this is calculating the interval off the Created time, not the Alarm time. 2. For some reason, I was having issues with the "Hallmarked Man" reminder which is set for 2 Sep 2025. Whenever I exited Calibre and restarted yesterday, it kept telling me the alert was Overdue, even though there were still 6 months to go. Can't replicate the issue today. Maybe something to do with using the Created time instead? And one feature request... 1. Any chance of a pop-up alert when a reminder has fallen due? Open Calibre and a few seconds later a dialogue appears with the Reminder details? ![]() |

![]() ![]() I think that solving point 1. might address point 2. Let's see... Will also take a look at your feature request and thanks again for the timely incentive. |

It might be helpful to look at how other plugins handle alert messages. For example, task completions from the Count Page plugin.

Thank you! The custom column date for me is working great. Now, if I can ask...., if you could sort the reminder table by title and reminder time (and perhaps status), it would be great. In any case, I think this is going to be very useful for me.

Thanks @Comfy.n
I think something is broken in v1.2. When I click on the "Add reminder" button underneath the calendar, nothing happens. I can only add a reminder by using a Quick Reminder and then editing the reminder time. Also, I am not getting a pop-up. Does that only happen at startup or will it pop-up even when Calibre has been sitting open at the alarm time? |
