In Mrs Donelly's first grade classroom. The school secretary came to the room and told the teacher. We were sent home.

In my crib, or maybe crawling around on the floor. It really didn't impact my day very much, as finding my blankie was the most important thing that happened that day.

In first grade in Arlington, TX (about 15 miles west of Dallas). We were fingerpainting, although I had not yet had my opportunity to do that yet and so I was waiting impatiently. We were then told something about someone important dying and so we went outside and said the pledge of allegiance and the flag was lowered and we went home. I never did get to try fingerpainting. And we probably haven't had a president as bright as JFK since. (these two facts are presumably unrelated)

Last period of the day in 7th grade at Tonawanda Junior High School. They sent us home and schools were closed for a few days following.

I was, in a previous life, just passing by as a courtesan in the harem of the Court of King Caractacus, when I noticed this grassy knoll needed mowing, as someone had let the kangaroo grass get above ankle height. I didn't have a Victa two-stroke (by coincidence, one of my current nicknames) with me at the time, so I decided to use the firearm all courtesans are issued with (King Caractacus quite liking the ditty, This is my rifle; this is my gun, and thinking arming us so amusing) to mow down the unkempt lawn.
Of course, this was in Wales at the time, so don't get any silly, conspiratorial ideas. Cheers, Marc |

I was in some early grade -- probably 1st grade. I think we did get sent home early. What I remember, though, is watching the funeral procession -- and John, Jr's salute to his dad. Sniff, sniff.....
