If I Like Louis L'Amour...
Who would be a similar author? I like how L'Amour wrote about the West; I also like the lack of profanity and detailed sex scenes. Anyone know another Western writer like that? An e-book source would be icing on the cake.

J T Edson comes to mind, I've read a lot of books. Zane Grey is also a good author. I'd suggest that you look at the Western bookshelf at Gutenberg for some free books

Most of the Zane Grey novels should be available at Feedbooks: http://www.feedbooks.com/author/255

Zane Grey is an excellent choice and fits your requirements quite well.

Max Brand
and, if you can find anything: Peter Field I recently assembled 3 titles by Clifton Adams for MobileRead, but I don't believe those will be appropriate for you, based upon your reading preferences. Adams writes hard-hitting Westerns and Mysteries and may contain too much violence for your tastes. Also, check out "Westerns" in the "Download" area here on MobileRead. I plan to assemble a lot more Westerns, to be made available here. Don |

The Virginian by Owen Wister is another good Western.

According to Literature Map, Scott Adams is close. Really not sure where that comes from, but the others mentioned along with James Fennimore Cooper.
