$0.99 - Dragonfly in the Amber (Outlander #2)

99¢
Dragonfly in the Amber
by Diana Gabaldon
Quote:
From the author of Outlander... a magnificent epic that once again sweeps us back in time to the drama and passion of 18th-century Scotland...

For twenty years Claire Randall has kept her secrets. But now she is returning with her grown daughter to Scotland's majestic mist-shrouded hills. Here Claire plans to reveal a truth as stunning as the events that gave it birth: about the mystery of an ancient circle of standing stones...about a love that transcends the boundaries of time...and about James Fraser, a Scottish warrior whose gallantry once drew a young Claire from the security of her century to the dangers of his ....

Now a legacy of blood and desire will test her beautiful copper-haired daughter, Brianna, as Claire's spellbinding journey of self-discovery continues in the intrigue-ridden Paris court of Charles Stuart ...in a race to thwart a doomed Highlands uprising...and in a desperate fight to save both the child and the man she loves....

Too bad this is geo-restricted (we've a different publisher in Canada, who has not seen fit to put theirs on sale). Even though the author did get up to some flouncy dramatic shenanigans a few years ago, I'm kind of tempted now that there's a TV series. But the library has these anyway.

Thanks for the heads-up.

That's actually why I've never bought the second in the series until now.
I got the first one for free when it was offered a few years ago. (It was the 20th anniversary so unlikely to happen again.)

This is a series where you absolutely MUST read them in order. Some books don't matter; these do. I picked one up once because the cover looked cool. I was totally lost, and dropped it halfway through. Later, I started the series and loved it! When I got to that volume, I kept thinking it seemed awfully familiar, but couldn't think why .... till I finally realized what I had done.
