People of good will, please give Your voice ... maybe We can make a difference in this case when it will be enough of us ...

Movie from petition is pretty drastic, i warn You, but you'll can go direct to petition, without watching the movie.

After that, sign the petition to ban cancer and the petition to repeal the Laws of Gravity.

1.) Internet petitions accomplish NOTHING.

2.) Internet petitions attempting to tell a gigantic authoritarian Communist government what to do would, if possible, accomplish less than nothing.

3.) Having outsiders step in and attempt to tell people what their cultural values towards anything should be are an exercise in futility. Including telling them which animals they are allowed to use for food.

Do you actually think that a country that slaughters it's own citizens in the streets when they protest for increased freedoms is going to give even the slightest fraction of a second of attention to an internet petition "signed" by a bunch of foreigners?

I have to agree here. Google won't even mess with China.

If this petition will change anything even for a single animal ... it is worth trying.

I am aware of the cruelty of the world and I do not deny their culture, their kind of food, but categorically opposed to the way they do ...
I also know that the world is changing with time and sometimes a small stone can cause an avalanche...

Yes. With every passing year, China is becoming richer and more powerful. So, some day, we will be answering to them!

(Oh, not the direction you wanted.)

The motivation is laudable, but the method just won't work. If you want to promote any real change over there, your options are to go over yourself and try to get it done (and try not to get arrested), or to help fund whatever organizations may be doing just that (if there are any -- not sure).

And if you do find organizations attempting to push such things over there, do be careful to ensure they're legit and the money is going toward what they say it is. It would hardly be the first time if a charity was really just a mask for someone trying to pocket easy cash, as sad as that is.

Kashue!

I support the struggle for animal rights; and it's encouraging to see campaigns like this springing up around the world.

In a world where human children have no rights.
Where the human race has bred itself beyond critical mass and into an accelerating downward spiral.
And the sociopath evolves from random aberration to dominant species.
The animals will recover, for they are the meek. You and yours, however, are done.

As long as the major governments and corporations in the world continue to make every effort to not offend them they will continue to do exactly as they please and to hell with the rest of the world. They do so many things on both a world stage and locally that should be just plain unacceptable and yet no one seems to have the nerve to call them on anything.

Given that they'll
  • continue to send us tainted food, after all if it is ok for their own people why not the rest of the world
  • continue to do the same thing to our pets
  • keep ignoring what, to most of the rest of the world, are basic human rights
  • continue (probably as a government) to steal the intellectual property of others and to ignore it when their citizens do the same.
If it keeps up like it is, the rest of the world will wake up in 10 or 20 years and not like what it sees one bit.

My wife, a few months ago, threw out all of her cosmetics that were made in China. We don't buy any pet products made there, and we try, as much as possible to not buy any people food from there either.

The problem is, while many in China are at a 1st World level of income, the average Chinese citizen (which means a bigger population than the US or Europe) still is very poor, rural, and living at a subsistence level-- meaning struggling to not starve to death. "Animal rights" is a luxury invented by people who are safe, secure, and well fed, not people who have to live in the real world as it has been for most of human history. And the anthropomorphizing of animals is a cultural thing that isn't shared by all cultures. So by demanding that some other country with their own (deeply ancient) culture bend themselves to what outsiders tell them is how they should value animals and which animals they should be allowed to eat is not only naive, but smacks of racism. If millions of people in India got up a petition to tell Americans and Europeans to stop eating cows, we would at most laugh at it, and most likely ignore it. Just like China can (and should) for outsiders trying to tell them what they can eat.

You do realise, I hope, that both your country and my own (not that I have an affinity for something as stupid as country or nation) are responsible for feeding tainted, killer meat and other killer foods to its own populace and covering up the nature of that food? (CJD, Ecoli from corn-fed cows etc) And several times over too. Your country and the one that reluctantly is upon my passport, are also responsible for some of the most flagrant abuses of human rights ever recorded (Guantanemo, Execution of mentally ill prisoners and children, torture, conviction without trial, war crimes, genocide of native populations, institutionalised, armed forces sanctioned rape of men and women, sterilisation of whole communities, rape by trained animal, etc) and they also prop up regimes that continue this abuse upon innocent women and children all over the world.

If you believe that this is somehow a sanction of China, then you are wrong. They are just as bad as the US and the UK, but before the stones are thrown, you should really take a long hard look at where you are from, and what your country is doing (we should all do this). Oh and why we're all about freeing countries from other countries, here's a couple more that we could do with freeing from the US and UK invasion forces:

Iraq.
Afghanistan.
And more than likely Iran soon enough, which is next on the list of Uncle Sam's Middle-East game of Risk.

Oceania was at war with Eurasia; therefore Oceania had always been at war with Eurasia

I've no interest in getting into a debate about how "bad" the US or the UK are. I'm talking about a poison that has knowingly and repeatedly been put into numerous products. if you want to debate other issues, fine do it in another thread. I'm addressing a request to support animal rights in a country that has little value of human rights. in no way can anyone equate the status of the US and UK with China in that regard

I'm afraid the UK, US and China are all pretty much tied for human rights abuses according to Amnesty International. You, like I, have been lied to on that point for a long, long time. In your country execution of mentally challenged children still happens (one of only three nations in the world, by the by). No government is without complicity in these crimes, and that should never be forgotten. Also, the FDA in the US knowingly ignored signs of bovine encephalitis and dangerous levels of ecoli in beef stock (fed with GM corn against all good practices of traditional farming) that led to the deaths of several infants (Google Kevin's Law, still not passed even now). The animal stock used in the US right now and the vast majority of slaughterhouses are flagrant abuse of animal rights. The poison that is put into yours and my food stock is just as bad, just as dangerous and damaging as anything China feeds to its population.

As is the want around here, I'll add this --- ...Just sayin' (although I have no clue of its origin)

EDIT : This is not a dig at you personally, or the US or even the UK, but at all Governments who put money, war and profit over people.

Those poisons were put in by businesses and farmers, not by the government (so you could say capitalism was at fault.) And do you know what the Chinese government does to people who do that? They execute them.
