Cover not fitting in viewer pane

Hi,

A minor bug (unless it's a feature ?) :
In calibre 4, when a cover generated by calibre from an image was proportional (preserveAspectRatio="xMidYMid meet"), it was resized to always fit in the viewer pane.

With calibre 5, it is still resized for width, but not for height, if its heigth is bigger than the pane, we have to scroll down to see it. This behavior is different from ebook-viewer where cover is always resized.

Thank you.

Page mode is for ebook-viewer, isn't it ? I'm speaking about the pane view of the editor (ebook-edit), that's why it is not very important. The former versions of calibre (4 ans less) had a different behavior.

Anyway, it was just a remark, thank you for the attention.

Ah you mean the preview in the editor. That's a change in Chromium, with how 100% height is interpreted. If you use 100vh instead it should work, though you might need to also add overflow: hidden to body to avoid scrollbars.

But you have to be careful. 100vh may not work with what you are using to read the eBook. So while 100vh will work in the preview, that may be the only play it works. I just leave things at 100% because I know it will work when I go to read the eBook.

Thank you for the point, Jon. It was what I wanted to do, preview has not to be 100% accurate in editor, it just gives a good idea of what we'll see in real viewer or eReader. But the Kovid's explanation was useful to understand what has changed since calibre 4.

I was more curious about the rem unit for epub3, it seems a good feature to explore.

rem needs the app you are using to understand ePub 3 or it won't work.
