One pleasant surprise in the new firmware: the 'scroll when zoomed' mode is an honest-to-god panning function: slowly dragging your finger gradually pans the page, with the text tracking your finger reasonably well. Nice! That may be the biggest improvement for my workflow.

It is nice that we can get access to reading the text together with references at its end, opening two copies of the same document at once side by side, or having two different documents simultaneously on the screen through the function "display two documents simultaneously" (do not know if this option was present in the previous firmware version though). So, to read two different documents at once, you need first to activate "display tow documents simultaneously (side by side)." (right top corner function). And then tap in the left top corner of one the sides, and choose another document from the same folder.

Each side or each document has a page turning independent of each other.

If you wish to read the references to the document, but full size on RP1 as in S1, you can make another copy of the same document, but it into the same folder, and then get an access to it through the left corner top menu "documents in the same folder". Did not estimate the time of access yet.

Also instead of the second document on its right or left side, you can also choose annotations through the right top corner menu.

Reducing the size (narrowing the width) of the one document when two are viewed side by side, can be helpful, since, references do not usually take much reading time.

Regretfully, we have not got the function of turning pages while they are zoomed while preserving the zoom.

If you display side-by-side you don't need to make a copy, but then each page is only displayed in A5, or half size.

If you want full size, and easily switch back-and-forth between two pages of the same document, then you can either add annotations to the pages you want to visit, and then use the search (if you make stars) or annotation list to jump back and forth.
Another option is to have twice the same document, and since the RP1 remembers the last page seen when opening a document, one can be opened on where you are reading, and the other on the references.

I usually use annotations, since it is so easy to just draw a line, and be able to jump back.

The iOS app is now available in the Japanese and US iOS App Stores, but not in any others. Which means if you’re not in one of those countries, you currently can’t get the app.

Sure hope they’ll release it globally.

It’s slightly more involved than that with the Apple App Store, you can’t just use a VPN, and sideloading also doesn’t work. I think you need a second Apple ID, and a valid US address and form of payment. Haven’t done it yet, but the guides online look gnarly. It’s much easier on an Android phone to get around the region lock.

Obviously if you use an android device you can simply download and install the apk mobile app file wherever in the world you are and it works perfectly. I'm in Greece and able to use the mobile app for transferring files from and to my digital paper.

It is, google this; digital paper app for mobile apk and you will see you can download and install the program to your android device. This is not through the google's play store of course, so if you want to do that then you do it at your own risk.
