System tray now works in Linux Mint 20 using the Cinnamon GUI.

It is not working for me using Calibre 4.21 on Mint 20, cinnamon. I have tried to disable, then re-enable the system tray icon, but still no luck. Do you have any suggestions?

The problem with most repository versions is they are frozen at the time of a OS release and rarely get updated (until a new OS release)

Starting calibre a command gives this, if it is of any help:

$ calibre
Failed to create system tray icon, your desktop environment probably does not support the StatusNotifier spec https://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Spe...sNotifierItem/

I would suggest running system reports from the main menu to see if you have any configuration problems.

Check Hexchat see if it will go to system tray, if not then check and make sure under System Setting--Preferences--Applets you have both System Tray and XApp Status Applet enabled.

This is my calibre debug with calibre system tray not enabled:
