Or why doesn't Amazon sell industry standard, open source spec, epubs (which can have DRM) rather than azw3/KF8 and KFX and other proprietary Amazon only formats. Actual drm-free mobi predates the Kindle and the purchase of Mobipocket ebook company, but is only HTML3 and no CSS or embedded fonts, so rubbish.

There are two reasons.
