Calibre error since Kobo firmware update

Hello I just updated my Kobo firmware for the first time in years and since doing that I am getting the error with Calibre copied below. So now I can't use Calibre!! Could someone please help? Many thanks

Your Kobo is running an updated firmware/database version. As calibre does not know about this updated firmware, database editing is disabled, to prevent corruption. You can still send books to your Kobo with calibre, but deleting books and managing collections is disabled. If you are willing to experiment and know how to reset your Kobo to Factory defaults, you can override this check by right clicking the device icon in calibre and selecting "Configure this device" and then the "Attempt to support newer firmware" option. Doing so may require you to perform a factory reset of your Kobo.

Updating your Calibre version should fix that. Looking at the change logs for Calibre, it looks like the 5.35 update made the change to work with the newer format.

Quick advice, your kobo is running

It would be best if you downgrade your firmware to 4.30.
4.31 is a carcrash of a firmware release. See the firmware page for 4.31 https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=344604 (about 15 pages in it gets real depressing.)

Thank you Dave updating Calibre fixed it! And thank you Lusephur I will try downgrading my Kobo firmware to 4.30!

I just updated my Kobo Clara to software version 4.32.19501 (0e55e3f620, 4/14/22) and, with Calibre 5.42, I get the message that the database is unsupported, much like the comments above, but now it's 2 June 2022! Is a fix on the way, because I am hesitant to do anything for fear of clobbering the database!

Follow the advice in the popup and click on the Attempt to support newer firmware option on the Metadata, on device & advanced tab of the configuration dialog for the KoboTouch and/or KoboTouchAdvanced drivers. If any issues occur with this, that will be posted about since it would occur with the beta testers before the firmware would see public release.

The warning in the popup is mostly a CYA just in case something goes wrong.

If you don't want to do this, you'll have to wait for the next release of calibre where the database version update will be accounted for.

Keep your Calibre updated because 4.33 was released yesterday. The next version of Calibre will recognize 4.33. But if you do get 4.33 before then, click on the Attempt to support newer firmware option.

Can you post the details of the message? Calibre 5.42 should support firmware 4.32.19501. But, there was something unusual in the update that meant the change I made didn't match every device. But, calibre 4.53 should have this fixed. But, it won't have the updates for firmware 4.33.19608. That will be in the next calibre release.
