Exclamation Free (Kindle DRM-free) Extraordinary Voyages of Jules Verne by Eric Brown [Fantasy]

A quick dip into the KDP Select exclusive or else slushpile, which is as usual overloaded by new release Tuesday. I skipped a lot of stuff.

But we have a really nifty sfnal treat for today, especially if you like AU historical RPF.

The Extraordinary Voyages of Jules Verne by Eric Brown, whose ISFDB and Wikipedia entries you can look up yourself because I really don't have the time today, is an awesome-sounding short novel which is just what it says in the title, free courtesy of PS Publishing.

Free without DRM for who knows how long @ Amazon main UK DE ES FR IT

Description
Paris, 1855. Jules Verne, struggling playwright and frustrated dreamer, finds himself whisked through time, first into the Cretaceous Period, and then into the far future, on a perilous quest to save the world from the tyranny of Robur, the insane Master of the World. Verne is famous for giving the world such classics as Around the World in 80 Days, Journey to the Centre of the Earth and Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea. But what is not known is that Verne experienced an adventure equal to any he wrote about, a quest in which he met mad airship captains, beautiful rebels, and a race of ant-like aliens - and at the same time brought about the salvation of planet Earth and the dawn of a new Golden Age for humankind.

Here's the stuff that was more-or-less easily recognizable in the slushpile:

New American Library-published Jessica Barksdale Inclan returns with an sfnal speculative work which seems to have her usual literary themes in a setting where global warming and natural disasters have changed stuff: Prime

Small press Dragon Moon (who've published a Canadian Aurora Award nominee in the past) offer Jeannette Cottrell's fantasy: The Shadebinder's Oath

Mammoth Anthology of something-or-else included EC Sheedy returns with a thriller (may be romantic suspense): A Perfect Evil

ISFDBed David Riley returns with the self-explanatory AU: The Pirate Dogs

Barbour-published Christian fiction author Anita Higman offers an inspirational contemporary romance: The Perfect Blend

Nicola Thorne, who's been UK-published by some house I don't have the time to look up, returns with a contemporary literary fiction/suspense novel: A Woman Like Us

Richard Mason who wrote that Arizona Wildlife Federation column returns with another in his litfic historical series about growing up in the Deep South if you've been collecting them: The River Rat, And a Catahoula Hog Dog (Richard the paperboy)

Sourcebooks-published Lisa Renee Jones returns with another supersoldier psychic romance: Renegade Passion (The Zodius Series)

Backlist repeats from Blair Mastbaum, Brenda Novak, John Matthews. Established author repeats from James D. Best, Lee Edgerton, Scott Nicholson, Michelle M. Pillow. Small press repeats from Imajin, Books We Love/BWLPP including previously title-featured Lee Killough.

Happy reading, if you manage to spot something you think you might like.

Only a few things, but some interesting ones and a fair number of romance or romance-related authors today and some decent sfnal/horror repeats:

Harper-published "CWA Dagger Winner" Matt Rees returns with another short story involving his published fictional detective Omar Yussef: Damascus Trance

Shirley Kennedy returns with a 2000-Signet historical romance: The Rebellious Twin

Stephanie Bond returns with the 2001-St. Martin's: Got Your Number (a humorous romantic mystery) Once again, she and other "Free Par-Tay" authors, some backlist, are offering their wares promotionally for a few days and you can see more of them via her book blurb.

Carina Press-published Robert Appleton returns with another in his sfnal mystery series: Esther May Morrow's Buy or Borrow (The Esther May Morrow Collection)

Berkley-published Barbara Bretton returns with what looks like a contemporary romantic suspense: Playing for Time (The PAX Series)

XCite Books offer another possibly-erotic romance by Elizabeth Coldwell: Summer of Lust (Xcite Romance)

Backlist repeats from Catherine Kean, Rita Herron, Jeremy Shipp. Established author repeats from Stephen Gaskell & Bradley Beaulieu, Allan Leverone, Christian Cantrell, Mary Anna Evans, Ian Fraser, David Bain, Phoebe Matthews. Small press new & repeats (mostly romance, but a few other genres) via Books We Love/BWLPP and MuseItUp Publishing (which has BWLPP authors and which I suspect to be a division of BWLPP, actually).

Happy reading, if you manage to spot something you think you might like.

One more which popped up:

Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine Reader's Choice Award winner Dave Zeltserman returns with a collection of short stories which may be a repeat, but is old enough that I don't have it in the KDP auxiliary account: 21 Tales

This looks completely cracktastic and the sample reads decently enough for what I assume is satire, given that it's got anti-aircraft stegosauruses in it: Love in the Time of Dinosaurs

Also, established author series repeat from Bell Bridge Books-published Donna Ball writing under her penname Donna Boyd, if you're missing a volume.

You're welcome. Just for future reference, if it's a KDP Select freebie, then it should be free in all the Amazon stores, barring an author who's decided to geo-restrict (or has sold the rights in a certain region).

I put in all the store links only for the main feature and link to just the main store for all the rest to save time and typing.

Thanks, I picked up the Eric Brown and Love in the Time of Dinosaurs. I haven't read a dinosaur tale in a while and this one sounded too much fun to let it pass!
